living on fault lines

Welcome to the Pacific Ring of Fire. Easy to forget. Not today. Luckily my Japanese buddy and his family are safe. Hard to escape nature’s furry—how far inland does one need to live to be tsunami free? If an earthquake were to strike here—in Oregon, it’s just a matter of time—my knee jerk reaction would be to run to an open field (a “safe zone” in wildland firefighting lingo).

Earth—scary, magnificent, unpredictable.

  1. So terribly tragic and a reminder of how small we truly are on this beast of a planet. Constant evolution.
